I once heard it said:

“Giving up is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.”

I know it’s hard not to give up sometimes. You wonder if you’ll ever succeed. You’ll wonder if you’re wasting your time. Please think twice. Here are some thoughts to keep in mind:

  1. Before you give up, think long and hard about what you’re about to do. How much time, energy, or money have you invested in what you’re doing? Remember why you were working towards your goal…and remember that everything you did thus far will have gone to waste.
  2. If you stop now, you will be at Square 1 for any new venture. I promise that you will face obstacles no matter what. Make it worth it. It’s only worth it if you succeed, learning along the way.
  3. There’s no shame in changing paths. After careful consideration and you think it’s for the best to quit, then at least take the lessons you’ve learned with you. Your experiences could help you in your future endeavours.
  4. Wait until you aren’t feeling strong emotions about the situation. When we are upset, angry, frustrated, or deeply sad, we tend to make rash decisions and take irrational actions. Calm down, take a walk, clear your head. Think logically.
  5. In a few years time, the obstacle won’t be an obstacle, but if you were successful, you can look back and know you did it. You accomplished something in spite of the obstacle. And your life will be better for it.
  6. You don’t get stronger by giving up.
  7. Change your mindset. Re-frame the situation. Instead of seeing an obstacle, see an opportunity for growth.
  8. The world needs what you have to offer. Don’t deny them that opportunity. Think of someone who has impacted your life in a major way. If they gave up, then they wouldn’t have made a difference in your life. You could be that person to someone else.

No matter what forces seem to be working against you, don’t give up.

Do yourself a favour and don’t throw in the towel. You are meant for something big. Go out there and get ‘er done!

Be awesome and may your life be passionate!
